Learning With GHASP

Black and White Students

GHASP can help you and your department learn more about how you can be more sustainable in your practice. We hope our website acts as a useful resource, but if you would like a more human presence, our diverse team can run teaching days, give talks and run workshops to suit you and your team. Since 2018 our team have delivered an array of education programs in many forms to many different teams throughout the UK, receiving excellent feedback. If you feel that GHASP may be able to  help your department please get in touch with us on the button below.

Some Examples of our Education Work

Local

We work closely with hospitals, on the ground to help them undertake sustainable healthcare projects. When we instigate a project we run short 5 minute "Gorilla Teaching Sessions" borrowing 5 minutes of peoples time to outline our work and what needs doing. We have found framing the projects in this manner has gone along way to encouraging positive behavioural change. At GHASP we understand that people don't want to be told what to do, our methods tell people WHY and bring people along on our journey.

We know these are challenging times, but we have adapted so that we can keep on with our movement. Be it a COVID secure audience, virtual conferencing or webinar we have done it all and are happy to accommodate your needs.

National

We love to get out and about and have been fortunate to have been invited to talk to large audiences throughout the UK. These have been great platforms to expand our growing network. Below is a great example of some of the national work we have been doing, with our GHASP member Jacob Krzanowski talking about the vital importance of Green Spaces and Green Therapy. This was given after an amazing lecture by Professor Hugh Montgomery who kindly spoke at one of our events. You can watch that here. Jacob and I kicked off 2019 with our Medical School Roadshow. Here we tour UK medical schools helping to empower students to get involved in sustainable healthcare projects.

International

The climate crisis is a global crisis and at GHASP we believe strongly that we need to share what we are learning to an international audience. In 2020 GHASP collaborated with the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) to write a piece on how we can deliver effective education for sustainable healthcare internationally for all health disciplines. This article went on to be published in the journal Medical Teacher. Click on the title below to be diverted to the paper. We have since gone on to collaborate with AMEE to write an International Consensus on Education for Sustainable Healthcare, which will be released in 2021.
